Sure Grip

Silly man looking for a sure grip

Assurance actions aren’t meaningless

Touching fire to avoid feeling pointless

Or maybe he’s trying to see if anyone cares

Before his armor hides a heart somewhere deep

Tears sealed they should never leak
He works yet it’s not enough

Drives only to find he’s out of gas

Nothing is for certain playing in his head

So busy worrying about tomorrow there’s no today

Alone time just means he’ll eat and smoke to feel okay
Silly man hoping for a tight grip

Everyone falls here

Throw time in the trash until you need some

Can’t retrieve it gasping and grasping it’s gone

Less reasons to hold on
He thought his grip was tight

Found different through dimmed lights

Nights awake flipping in bed.
